Celebrating World Wellbeing Week with the parkrun, walks & wellness

As we enter the summer season and World Wellbeing Week, it’s a great time to boost our activity, walk, run, whatever appeals to you. Movement is good for our wellness.

The sunny weather and longer daylight hours create the perfect environment to begin walking/jogging, returning to running or improving. Being out in nature really makes a difference to our mood.

Running is an easy way to improve cardiovascular health, build strong muscles and releases endorphins that may boost your mood and reduce stress levels. If you’re looking for a fantastic way to stay motivated and connect with a supportive community, try Parkrun UK. Parkrun offers free, timed 5-kilometer runs every Saturday morning in stunning parks across the UK. It’s a brilliant opportunity to challenge yourself, set goals and meet like-minded individuals who share your passion for fitness. These photos are from Severn Bridge parkrun, where you go from Wales to England and back across the bridge, it’s fun.

What’s your favourite parkrun?  Is there one you would love to do in the world? Or you would like to try one but never been so nervous….?

Parkrun UK is so inclusive, everyone is welcome, it’s free – you can volunteer, walk, jog, run, do it your way – just check some locations for access and register for your barcode online, and to find locations near you.

I’ve been hesitant to go again after some cheeky heart challenges, yet committed to shaping up today. 4 minutes slower, irrelevant really but the barcode email sends you an update with your time to reflect.

Everyone taking part I’m sure had fears and hopes, distractions and focus, dreams and doubts, it’s normal. Committing to yourself, embracing fear with courage and doing ‘the thing’, tiny steps can make the big difference.

If it can help you trust you, show up for yourself and find your ‘thing’ this summer, giving tools, support and accountability into Autumn pop me a message.

I believe in you, happy rest of the week.
