The Many Faces of ADHD – Awareness, Understanding & Strength

October is ADHD Awareness Month.

This year’s theme for ADHD Awareness Month is “The Many Faces of ADHD” – reminder that ADHD looks and feels different for everyone. It’s not a one-size-fits-all experience, and that diversity is what makes the conversation so important.

ADHD can show up in creativity, focus, energy, restlessness or deep hyper-focus. It can be both a challenge and a strength, often misunderstood but full of potential once recognised and supported.

As someone who has coached and mentored many incredible people with ADHD, I know how much awareness, compassion and the right tools can transform lives – helping people thrive, not just cope.

Embracing the Many Faces of ADHD

This year’s theme encourages us to listen, learn and share stories – to help break stigma and increase understanding. Whether you’re personally navigating ADHD, supporting someone who is, or simply want to learn more, awareness is key.

I recently joined the brilliant team at ADHD Untangled for a podcast conversation exploring how movement, mindset and wellbeing can help manage ADHD and unlock strengths.

Another inspiring story worth reading is Benny Howell’s interview on how ADHD has shaped his career, focus, and creativity in professional cricket – a brilliant example of neurodiversity in sport.

Supporting Yourself or Someone You Know

If you recognise aspects of ADHD in yourself or someone close to you, remember – support and understanding can make all the difference.

Here are a few simple starting points:

Move your body – Exercise and movement can support focus and release energy.

Create calm structure – Small, clear systems help reduce overwhelm.

Seek connection – Talking to others who understand can be incredibly grounding.

Celebrate strengths – ADHD often brings creativity, passion, and big-picture thinking, embrace those gifts.

Keep the Conversation Going

ADHD Awareness Month is a great opportunity to open up, ask questions and keep learning. It’s possible to move away from stigma and towards understanding, acceptance and empowerment.

If you’d like support navigating ADHD or understanding how to work with your strengths, feel free to get in touch – I’d love to help.
