To all the good men in our lives, Happy International Men’s day!
“This International Men’s Day let us recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution that men and boys make to our society – and make sure that they are not alone to suffer in silence.” and “I recognise the important issues this event seeks to highlight including men’s health, male suicide rates and the underperformance of boys in schools, these are serious issues that must be addressed in a considered way.”
The UK themes for the Day which are used every year and help maximise participation are:
- Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
- Raising awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing
- Promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity

I could list many more. My very first client in 2001 was a man, I wondered how I could help him? Ever since then about half of my clients are male – it’s daunting at times, challenging and rewarding. Men like women need support, need to feel valued. However successful or known someone is, we all are human.
I have found so often many of us are close to burnout, disconnected from ourselves, doubting in the quiet moments, yet outwardly achieving amazing things and performing. Pausing to enjoy the moment is so important.
I think I work well with men as I was brought up in a very strict way, emotions were locked in, drawing a line, and just getting on with things was the way forwards.
There isn’t a right or wrong way, but understanding ourselves, looking inside, taking a pause to reconnect mind, body and soul really is key to long term growth, happiness, wellbeing courage and relationships in every level.
So to all you good men, thank you for being there and making a difference.
Reach out to the men who add value to your life and let them know. And do let me know who inspires you?
