As we mark National Grief Awareness Day on 30th August, I want to gently acknowledge that grief doesn’t wait for a season, a date or the “right” time. It can surface on an ordinary Tuesday, at the turn of summer into autumn, or in a quiet moment you didn’t see coming.
If this is you, or someone you love, here are a few thoughts that may help:
– Let your feelings be valid. Grief doesn’t follow the calendar. If you’re sad, tired, hopeful, confused, peaceful, or everything at once – that’s okay.
– Create small pockets of steadiness. A walk in nature, a pause before the day begins, journalling, breathwork or simple grounding practices can help.
– Choose connection that feels safe. You don’t have to say yes to everything. Pick the people and spaces where you can show up as you are, not as others expect you to be.
– Remember you’re not alone. Grief is deeply personal, yet universally human. Reaching out for support is a sign of courage, not weakness.

If you’d like gentle structure or grounded, everyday support, I’m here – with kindness, flexibility and life-experience behind it.
If your heart feels heavy right now, give yourself compassion, courage and a little spark of hope. You’re doing better than you think.
If you need support navigating grief, send me a message and I’ll help you choose the most nourishing next step for you.
